KAREN BERNOD SIGNS WITH DOME
New York vocalist Karen Bernod has signed with Dome, who will release her second solo album ‘Life @ 360 Degrees’ on May 15.
Currently recording and touring the world with Mary J Blige – and having previously performed that role with D’Angelo and Erykah Badu – she gets a chance to step centre stage with this new self-composed set, a follow-up to her solo debut ‘Some Othaness For U’.
Back in the Nineties Karen was featured vocalist with Incognito on three cuts on their ‘No Time Like The Future’ album, and was part of the band’s live line-up.
Prior to that, she sang on numerous dance tracks, was writer and vocalist on the Cooltempo club anthem ‘Motherland’, sang on Barbara Tucker’s ‘Beautiful People’, sang background vocals on albums by Whitney, Luther, Stephanie Mills, Paul Simon, the Pet Shop Boys…. She was also a lead in the off Broadway production of ‘Mama I Want To Sing’.
Karen and her band will be visiting the UK and Europe later this year.

BIOGRAPHY
The Family Stand consists of Sandra St. Victor, Jeffrey Smith and Peter Lord. The Family Stand's 1990 debut album, "Chain", produced the single "Ghetto Heaven", which instantly became a floor-filling dance anthem. A second LP, the genre defying "Moon in Scorpio", brought the diverse elements of the trio's musical heritage onto one stellar release in 1992. An insider's favorite, this 16 song epic became a landmark template for Soul/Rock fusion. This was followed by a six-year focus on production and writing for Lord and Smith. The much ballyhooed but underappreciated "Connected", the trio's third album, eventually saw its release in 1998. As a production & writing team, Peter & V. Jeffrey made their name with Paula Abdul's "Spellbound" and "Crazy Cool" releases, and Daryl Hall's solo CD "Soul Alone". They've also produced tracks for Tamia, Heather Headley, Eamon, Corey Glover, Profyle, Des’Ree, and Miki Howard. In 1996, Sandra St. Victor released her alternative-soul classic, "Mack Diva Saves The World". Her songwriting skills have also been duly noticed. Songs penned by Sandra appear on CDs from Prince, Chaka Khan, Profyle, Paula Abdul, numerous soundtracks, as well as a stellar duet on the New World Order CD with legend Curtis Mayfield. The Family Stand are currently in the studio writing and recording the new collection entitled, Super Sol Nova due for release in the Fall of 2006. TheFamilyStand.net website will debut in May 2006.

MAYA AZUCENA - BIO 2006
Brooklyn-born and reared songbird Maya Azucena is often described as the “hardest working artist I know.”
Fiercely progressive in her career, managing and booking herself, she continues to receive wide recognition in her worldwide Independent journey. The NY Post recently described Maya Azucena as having a “towering voice which has echoes of old-school divas, like Chaka Khan and Roberta Flack.”
In addition to the growing buzz across the U.S., she's toured European cities of London, Bath, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and ZoeterMeer. She recently made a return engagement in Toronto, and she continues to build an international fan base. This year she has confirmed bookings on bills with artists like Isaac Hayes, Cameo, Brian McKnight, Bilal, Martin Luther, Jaguar Wright, Leon Ware, Richard Bona, and more. Add those to a lofty list of past shared bills with such artists as the Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight, Anthony Hamilton, Platinum Pied Pipers, and John Legend.
Maya was selected this year to sing the National Anthe! m at the start-line of NYC's Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Walk for the Cure, followed by a concert in Central Park alongside the NYC Rockettes. She sang at the Official United Nations Tsunami Benefit; performed a concert at the store-opening block party for New York's Union Square SEPHORA; sang on Washington DC's historic National Mall for the Save Darfur Coalition Rally To Stop Genocide in the Sudan, in solidarity with national activists and celebrities such as Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Russell Simmons and George Clooney. Maya also performed in several Katrina benefits in New York, and she continues to remain active on community issues.
This year, Azucena's independent debut, Maya Who?!, was added to Virgin Megastore's product lineup in New York. Tower Records/Japan also has the CD. After two years, Maya Who?! continues to sell city by city, show by show, fan by fan, and there are licensing deals in the works that will make her music available in newer markets.
Maya has had a prolific year as a writer and collaborator. She wrote a new gospel song titled, “I Can Hear You,” with 2005 Grammy-winning producer and writer Devo and keyboardist/artist Chris Rob. Devon "Devo Springstein" Harris has produced such tunes as John Legend's "So High," and Kanye West's "Diamonds Are Forever," and Chris Rob is currently on world tour with John Legend. Maya has written songs with DJ Super-Star Jonathan Peters/Ultra Records. The JP/Maya Azu tune “Music” was chosen as part of the Ministry of Sound Annual 2006 compilation. A seven-song album of “Music” remixes is available at iTunes (search Jonathan Peters & Maya Azucena).
Maya wrote and recorded four songs with Milanese hiphop artist, DJ Jad. Jad, the DJ for popular Italian hiphop
group ARTICOLO 31, is releasing his breakout solo CD t! his Summ er on Best Sound/Sony-BMG. Maya’s song, “This Feeling,” featuring rapper Krumbsnatcha, was chosen as the advance single. The accompanying music video, shot in New York, will help promote the new release worldwide. The Jad-produced project also features artists Keith Murray, Smif-n-Wesson, N'dea Davenport, DJ Tony Touch, Bilal & Questlove, among others. DJ Jad's universally recognized sense of soul
and hiphop will make waves internationally.
An on-going collaboration between Maya and DJ/Producer Rich Medina has produced four new songs this year. The new single “I Saw This in You” appears on a recent Kindred Spirits USA Spring sampler. Another Medina collaboration, “Out of Nothing,” as it appears on his Connect The Dots CD (TimeOut NY Pick of the Year), is in rotation on national cable television's MUSIC CHOICE radio station-Smooth R&B channel.
Gibonni, a Croatian Superstar, releases his new CD in May with the song “ANDJEO U TEBI” (translated ''ANGEL IN YOU''), featuring Maya on the large, gospel-esque fi! nale of the song. “Angel In You” is the first song on the CD titled, UNCA FIBRE (Latin for “Face Value”). Maya Azucena also wrote and recorded a new song, “Things Fall Apart,” with the Senegalese Group, Gokh-bi System (GBS). The best known African Hip Hop group in the United States, GBS has toured the country eight times, appearing in 22 states, in the past five years.
Other Maya Azucena recording collaborators include HipHop duo A-Alikes/Nervous records; Boot Camp Clik for the Tupac Shakur benefit CD, The Rose-Vol 2/Amaru Entertainment; reggae-legend Half Pint on the advance duet-single “Crazy Girl,” for his new independent CD; British rapper Nomadic (of The Planets); Toronto's Darp Malone; Stimulus (NY rapper/Real Live Show); and Hip Hop producers Black Panther, Blahzay, Ayatollah, and more.
Maya also continues her powerful song collaborations with guitarist/song-writer Christian VerHalen. The Maya Azucena Band deepens it's sound as the core unit continues to work together in it's fourth year.
Maya Azucena has had recent television appearances. Network station UPN-St Louis has chosen Maya's song “Do You Really Wanna Party” as its 2006 Summer theme song. UPN flew Maya to St. Louis to film a promotional commercial that will air throughout the season. UPN affiliates in both Jackson, Mississppi and Columbia, SC, will also feature the song in their promos. TheCircuitTV.com recently aired a Maya Azucena interview/profile piece, along with clips from the Jason Fisher-directed music video “Too Much.” The same episod! e featur ed this year's Grammy winner Mike Shinoda of LINKIN PARK. The Circuit gets an average of 400,000 to 600,000 subscribers per show. This prestigious internet televsion show has had such artists as Kanye West, P Diddy, Alicia Keys, Jimmy Iovine, Russell Simmons, Floetry, Ne-Yo, Remy Ma, Paul Wall, Dame Dash, Slim Thug, Esthero, Bobby Valentino, Omarion, Bobbito, DJ Cassidy, Common, Terrence Howard, Method Man, Snoop Dogg, 50 cent, Jay-Z, and many more, keeping Maya Azucena in good company. The show was founded and is hosted by, MTV2's Jeremy Hassell.
Fearless Music/Fox-TV, the late night concert-format television show, recently had the Maya Azucena Band as their guest. Historically geared toward independent Rock, Fearless has now ventured into Soul, and the show chose Maya Azucena, along with Floetry, as one of its first Soul bookings. The show is scheduled to air complete performances of three or more songs. Maya Azucena's voice has also been heard on national NAIR commercials in "The Less You Wear" campaign. Other commercials such as Mike's Hard Lemonade and Longhorn Steakhouse have been in recent rotation.
“Deep and soul-bearing, she sings like she's been everywhere and seen it all,” says CDBaby.com, the online music store where many of Maya’s independent sales are made. “This soul/R&B/hip hop album is a fan! tastic l aunching point for a young woman with a bright and long career ahead of her.”
“Azucena comes across as a completely real character in her songs, someone you not only believe in, but you're rooting for to win in the end,” asserts the East Bay Express. Adds Performing Songwriter Magazine: “Maya Who?! Won’t be a question people ask for long.”

News from Jeremiah
So here is my big news. I am happy and blessed to tell you that I have signed an incredible RECORD DEAL. I want to thank you all for your well wishes and support during this journey.
In addition, I have changed the title to my debut record. It is now entitled "Chasing Forever". We have recorded new material and the record will be released in June. This has been an exciting time for me. We shot an amazing video for my single "Get Away" on Friday. It was really cool and we have some nice cameos. It should hit the airwaves very, very soon.
Also, thank you for all the support on i-tunes, keep it coming. "Get Away" has been added to the front page on the R&B/Soul page. All of your comments and reviews have been so great. Please keep spreading the word and requesting "Get Away" at your local stations. I need your support because you help me make the difference!!!!!
More to come.
