Independent Soul News brought to you by Life and Soul Promotions - Life and Soul promotions
| Hi there, Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know about a few developments regarding SOULFUSION. There's lot going on in the background but for now I'd like to let you know a few things I am very pleased to announce that with immediate effect HIPPO will be joining me as resident DJ in the Northern Soul room, Needless to say Hippo is very pleased about his appointment, and is looking forward to getting the Joint jumping on May 19th. This is great news for Soulfusion. Fans of the Hipster will no doubt be happy at his inclusion in the team. I have also asked ADY POUNTAIN & STEVE LLOYD to join me as resident DJs in the Modern Soul Lounge. This will bring continuity to the event allowing the DJs to play lesser known tracks and to build up a list of regular sounds that will become SOULFUSION Anthems. This is all good for the future of SOULFUSION and for the Gloucestershire Soul scene in general. Room 3 continues under the banner of "Soulfreedom" with KEV BAYNHAM, MIKE ASHLEY & MIKE SHAWE playing Soulful Dance in their own Styles. Last time this room really came into it's own, and I am very pleased with the reaction it had with the Soulfusion faithful. MAY19th is our next event which is only event number 7. I am pleased to say that the membership is increasing on a daily basis with the website having plenty of hits. Membership nearing 1100 members. thanks for your support. HIPPO is headlinging in the Northern room assisted by MIKE VENN & all the usual reprobates (myself included). The Modern Soul lounge will see a very special guest DJ Crazybeat's GARY DENNIS playing a 2 hour set for the SOULFUSION Crowd. Gary is travelling a long way to be with us so let's show him just how the Soulfusion crowd know how to party. I hope you will make the effort for this very special night. please remember if you want membership for friends then get in touch at least 48 hours before the 19th of May. Untill then have a soulful few weeks regards Neil Self SOULFUSION |

Erro on 1xtra The Basement - one week only!
Award-winning New York songwriter-artist Gordon Chambers decided to begin recording as a vocalist himself after a decade of writing hits for the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Brownstone, Patti Labelle, Angie Stone and the Isley Brothers.
His new album is unashamedly a collection of love stories "in the tradition of classic soul music of the Seventies but with a current feel". Highlights include "To Love Again" with San Francisco soul star Ledisi, his own version of "If You Love Me", the stand- out ballad "If It Wasn't For Your Love" (previously recorded by US star Heather Headley, and much performed at weddings and anniversaries), and "Stay Together", co-written by Eric Benet and originally recorded by the Temptations.
You can catch Gordon at London's Jazz Cafe on June 12th. Contact the venue and usual ticket outlets for further details.
Eric is back in May (11/12/13) at London's Jazz Cafe and will be one of the performers at the annual Stevie Wonder Birthday Tribute shows. Also on the bill will be Frank McComb, Roachford and Noel McKoy. Please contact the venue for ticket details, but be warned that previous shows have sold-out so get your tickets early!

The International Soul Summit 2007 returns to Atlanta
with a new date, the same great vibe, and a new theme
Underground Meets Mainstream: It's Time to Connect.
Conference to be held July 25th-29t at Atlanta's downtown Marriott. Visit Soul Summit online (www.soulsummitonline.com) to register.
Registration is FREE if you book your rooms at the host hotel before
Atlanta, GA - (February 2007) - Once it was announced, it only took 6 weeks for the news to spread over the internet that there was an event in Atlanta, Georgia called "The First Annual Soul Summit," a conference dedicated to the emergence to Soul Music. The International Soul Summit (ISMS) will return in 2007 to The Downtown Marrriott Hotel in Atlanta, GA, July 25th-29th with a new theme, Underground Meets Mainstream: It's Time To Connect."
"Our second summit will be the event of the music world," offers Creator, Founder, and Executive Producer, Terry Bello. "We've selected the theme, Underground Meets Mainstream: It's Time To Connect because it's time to elevate the music to the next level. Like Jazz and hip-hop before us, this music is an underground movement, but it's poised to be the next big thing and we're ready to be the catalyst for that elevation."
The International Soul Music Summit is the largest music conference in the world dedicated to the genre. The goal of the four day summit is to provide mainstream, emerging, and independent soul artists, retailers, executives, and consumers with the connections, information, networking opportunities, and technology which will help them to continue to create timeless music.
Over 500 attendees including well-known artists: Common, Eric Roberson, Trina Broussard, Martin Luther, Rashaan Patterson, Peven Everett, Jaguar Wright, Anthony Davis, Algebra, Heston, and Grammy Award Winner, Gordon Chambers joined conference attendees from the U.S. and overseas as far away as London. "The first event gave us a glimpse of how much of an impact Soul Music has globally. While it's still underground here in the U.S., it's a huge market overseas in places like the U.K., Germany, and Japan which are successful touring markets for soul music acts. With this event, we want to connect with the scene overseas while rebuild the roots for soul music here in the states where it originates."
This year Bello and his dedicated board of directors have invited a lineup of mainstream artists and musicians from other genres to engage in honest, open, and frank conversations about the future of music.
Components of the 2007 International Soul Music Summit include:
Sponsors on board at press time include Heineken, BET J, Rolling Out, and Music Choice.
About The International Soul Summit

The first conference created in just 6 weeks by a team of dedicated volunteers brought together over 500 attendees from as far as London, England. The International Soul Music Summit prides itself on providing informative and relevants panels along with networking & technology sessions to impact the future of soul music.
About Terry Bello
If fans of real soul are wondering where the next crop of new artists are being bred, then look no further than syndicated radio host and Billboard's 2006 Music Director of the Year, Terry Bello. A passionate purveyor for the neo-soul genre, Bello's Soul Lounge is syndicated through powerhouse, Superradio, and can be heard in 20 markets across the country including several Clear Channel stations. His Soul Lounge Show which spawned from Bello's popular Groovenation website, highlights the best in urban alternative, neo-soul and acid jazz. Bello's voice can also be heard on Radio One station, WZAK-M which he also programs.
