We are so excited to announce a VERY special concert event in Norfolk, VA this weekend. For One Night Only: Jaguar Wright with special guest... Jon Bibbs! That's right, Virginia's very own king of soul is making his return to VA!
It's been a while since Virginia folks have seen Jon on stage. He's been all over, sharing his music, his thoughts and his heart with folks from Washington, DC to Los Angeles. Now, Jon returns to Norfolk for his first major show in Virginia since February of 2006.
If you can make this show, do it! It promises to be one of the BEST shows of 2007. Jaguar Wright is an exceptional performer, known for her straight talk and candid demeanor on stage. (You may have heard Jaguar providing vocals for Jay-Z's "Unplugged" album.)

Peter Hadar & Friends
The Hipster Extravaganza
Here is a taste of what's to come on Wednesday October 3rd.
Listen to these tracks from
Peter Hadar's Memories of the Heart
U Don't Love Me:
Please:

NYC's SOBs will play host to one of it's Son's of Soul, on Wednesday October 3rd, when Peter Hadar returns to the stage where he first took flight. Hadar's salacious vocals and colorful background have won him critical acclaim for his debut album "Memories of the Heart", a hearty compilation within the burgeoning "Future Soul" movement. The album is thick with classic soul laced with hip-hop, electronica, and his native New Jersey house beats.
The NYC based Hadar is no stranger to the limelight; having performed with heavyweights including Mos Def, QuestLove, Bilal, Pete Rock, Raheem DeVaughn, Dwele, and SaRa. Studying under Eric Roberson for the last six years Peter is now posed to lead his own movement; expanding his sound, fanbase, and dope live shows. Since his 2006 debut, Hadar has been featured in an impressive roster of publications including TRACE, KingSize, and Dime magazines, along with a number of themed websites; each reveling in his unique vocal and writing skills.
The Hipster Extravaganza promised to be an eclectic fusion of soul, hip-hop, and a touch of electronica. Peter will be performing new cuts along with selections from
'Memories of the Heart', etc. Sponsored by designers Lemar Dauley, Kiser, Coup d'état, and Leroy Jenkins, among others for whom he is a muse; Hadar's vision takes full advantage of the elements of 'Future Soul' that marry perfectly with the Hipster T-shirt & jeans explosion in the fashion industry. This tastemaker event features Hadar along with a full line up of eccentric vocalists and MCs including London's premier DJ Barry King who will broadcast the event internationally.
If you are starving for that fire in your ear, make your way down to SOBs on October 3rd.

Shines New Light on Philadelphia Sound with Historic First Meeting On CD By Russell Thompkins Jr. (Stylistics), William 'Poogie' Hart (Delfonics) & Ted 'Wizard Mills' (Blue Magic)
All The Way From Philadelphia showcases a refreshing mix of newly energized R&B classics as well as one Hall & Oates original, the title track, which has never been recorded. The tracks on the CD feature all three tenors either as a group or one as the lead while the others harmonize background vocals. Russell Thompkins Jr.'s smooth and refined tenor takes the lead on such stellar versions of Barry Gibb's "Too Much Heaven," The Average White Band's "A Love of Your Own" and Yvette Davis' "How Could I Let You Get Away," a song that Russell Thompkins Jr. has long wanted to record and that was originally recorded by the Spinners. Ted Mills' sensual and soulful vocals are showcased on Maurice White's classic "Fantasy," from Earth, Wind & Fire's triple platinum selling All 'N All LP, as well as on "Grateful" an original by producer Bobby Eli co-written with Vinnie Barrett. All three tenors shine on such classics as Hall & Oates' #1 1981 hit "I Can't Go for That" which also features Hall & Oates as does the title track. The three tenors also coalesce on the Gamble & Huff gem "Where Are All My Friends" which was a hit for Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and the Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager's "That's What Friends Are For," originally sung by Rod Stewart for the soundtrack of Ron Howard's film Night Shift but which is far better known by Dionne Warwick's cover with Gladys Knight, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

| Lil Brian is "Worldwide" Lil' Brian and the Zydeco Travelers to take such bold steps on Funky Nation, is mentor and musical Godfather, Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural, Jr. who produced the album along with longtime collaborator and manager, Ted Fox. It was at Buckwheat Zydeco's wild shows in Houston's Catholic church halls that twelve-year-old Lil' Brian was first spellbound by the big piano note accordion played by the Maestro. Buck encouraged the youngster, and was instrumental in launching his career. Lil' Brian responded by absorbing Buck's musical lessons and developing his utter confidence in his ability to take zydeco where it had never been before. Brian even had a picture of Buck's accordion tattooed on his right biceps! The reviews for the fourth release "Worldwide" makes Lil' Brian and The Zydeco Travelers as one of the top zydeco bands. Rave reviews from "Creative Lofting". "Blues Review" and topping charts such as the Roots music charts, all adds up to make Funky Nation a wild roadmap to where zydeco is going in the new millennium. NEW OTIS REDDING DOCUMENTARY
NEW OTIS REDDING DOCUMENTARY TO RECEIVE WORLD THEATRICAL PREMIERE AT MODS & ROCKERS FILM FESTIVAL IN HOLLYWOOD . . . EVENT INCLUDES PANEL WITH LATE SOUL SINGER’S FAMILY AND FELLOW MUSICIAN
Widow Zelma Redding, Wayne Jackson of the Mar-Keys, Stax historian Rob Bowman plus film director and producer to participate in Q&A session following Monday, October 8 screening
HOLLYWOOD , Calif. — In a coda to this summer’s critically acclaimed Mods & Rockers Film Festival in Hollywood, the new Otis Redding film documentary Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding will receive its World Theatrical Premiere at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, on Monday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Zelma Redding (Otis’ widow), Wayne Jackson of the Mar-Keys, Grammy® Award-winning Stax historian Rob Bowman and the documentary’s directors David Peck and Phil Galloway.
Tickets for the premiere cost $10 for the general public, $8 students and seniors, $7 American Cinematheque members and are available through the festival website http://www.ModsAndRockers.com or at the theater box office in advance or at door.
The screening coincides with three notable events relating to Otis Redding. It heralds the release of Dreams To Remember: The Life Of Otis Redding as a DVD on the reactivated Stax label. It takes place as Stax Records marks its 50th anniversary. And it serves to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Redding’s tragically early death on December 10, 1967.
Produced by Reelin’ In The Years, Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding features a wealth of staggering complete performances filmed throughout America and Europe, beginning with Otis singing one of his earliest hits, “Pain In My Heart,” and progressing through the artist’s Stax/Volt career. Included are complete performances of “I Can’t Turn You Loose,” “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long,” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and a host of others; “Try A Little Tenderness” and “Respect” were taped at a local Cleveland television show less than 24 hours before Otis’ death.
The film also contains in-depth interviews with those who helped Otis write and create his incredible music: Steve Cropper, who co-wrote with Otis and played guitar on virtually every record he made at Stax; Wayne Jackson, the trumpet player for the Mar-Keys/Memphis Horns who also played on most of Otis’ recordings, and Jim Stewart, the founder of Stax Records, who gave his first interview in 13 years for this film. And there are stirring reminiscences from Otis’ wife Zelma and daughter Karla. These tender and insightful interviews paint a portrait of an amazing singer, artist, songwriter, and family man. The saga begins with memories of his first amateur talent contests and concludes with the touching recollections of the final days leading up to the tragic plane crash on December 10, 1967. In between are stories about Otis writing songs, recording at Stax and performing on stage (including the historic Monterey International Pop Festival).
For Dreams To Remember: The Legacy Of Otis Redding every effort has been made to locate the best possible sound and video; each of the performances has been re-transferred and re-mastered from the best-quality, original masters (some resting in the television vaults for more than 40 years). In the case of lip-sync performances, the original Stax master recordings have been used, replacing the original TV broadcast audio and making for a much more enjoyable viewing and listening experience.
The World Theatrical Premiere of Dreams to Remember: The Legacy of Otis Redding is one of the highlights of this October’s Mods & Rockers mini-festival of music-related films. The short season also includes premieres of films featuring Jimi Hendrix, Nick Drake and Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. The screenings take place at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.
Following the premiere of Dreams to Remember and the Otis Redding panel discussion will be a screening of the recently discovered Stax/Volt Revue Live in Norway, 1967, featuring legendary live footage of classic Stax stars including Redding, Sam & Dave, Booker T & the MGs, Eddie Floyd, Arthur Conley and the Mar-Keys.
Martin Lewis, Co-Founder/Producer/Host of the Mods & Rockers Film festival: “Otis Redding was a towering talent in the music world whose achievements in just six short years continue to inspire. He was also a pioneer in breaking down racial barriers. I am thrilled that we are saluting him and his legacy with a World Premiere at this special season of the Mods & Rocker Film Festival. It’s also a personal thrill as I still recall the exhilaration of seeing Otis perform live in London in April 1967 — a memory I always cherish.”

You will be able to purchase these tees at 2 of the shows next week, Blue Note & Brooklyn Lyceum.
We are also running contests to win tees and cds. There are 3 ways to win:
1. Whoever brings in the most folks to the Late Night Series at Blue note Friday night wins a cd and tee. Pull together all your loud reasonably imbibed peeps after whatever, wherever or whoever you've done Friday, and come on down to the hit!
2. The tees will be selling for $20. If you come to the shows with ANY cd of The Family Stand or Sandra St. Victor, you get a $5 discount! So go on and start digging thru those crates!
3. Whoever brings us the most MySpace friends between now and September 13th will receive a free t-shirt & cd. If the winner attends gigs, we will sign them and hand them over to you. If you live anywhere else in the world, they will be signed and sent to you.
IMPORTANT - Be sure that your friends send us a message that includes YOUR MySpace information when they submit their friend requests, so that we know who recommended us to them!

AL "COFFEE" MC DANIEL : : The Blues in My Shoes
Al "Coffee" McDaniel may be a new voice to the Blues, but he is not new to the world of music. He has been performing professionally since he was five years old and even then he knew what course his life would take, and the direction he would pursue.
THE BLUES IN MY SHOES is a landmark recording for the Blues -- a modern day urban Blues opera. This fourteen track CD, possibly autobiographical, in music and song, tells the story of a man who finds himself married to a woman who is controlling, abusive and unfaithful. He asserts his autonomy from this relationship meets and falls for another woman who ultimately helps his career, as she helps him attain fame and notoriety.
Joining Al Coffee for the recording of THE BLUES IN MY SHOES, is producer/songwriter/drummer, Narada Michael Walden, and blues great, guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter, Lucky Peterson.
THE BLUES IN MY SHOES includes songs ranging from traditional Blues, to Chicago and Texas blues, mixed in with a nice touch of R&B. While he paints each track with a different tint and hue from the Blues pallet, he defines each track with lyrics that paint a picture as though he were a fine artist. Each track, solid enough to stand on its own, comprises another act and scene that unfolds as it is listened to and considered as a whole.
